Groundwater Studies
Hydrogeological Studies
Groundwater studies focus on basin analysis, identifying aquifer-bearing formations, recharge zones, hydraulic properties, and assessing groundwater quality.
GeoExperts has extensive field experience in characterizing aquifers and evaluating water resources in arid and semi-arid environments, including sedimentary, sandy, and carbonate basins in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman.
This also includes analyzing well logs, pumping test data, aquifer modeling, and interpreting chemical and bacteriological analyses for groundwater quality reporting.
3.1 Work Methodology
1) Hydrogeological Data Collection & Analysis
- Analyzing geological and cross-sectional maps and historical borehole data.
- Studying groundwater levels, hydraulic gradients, and salinity patterns.
2) Geophysical Surveys
- Applying electrical resistivity methods (ERT, VES).
- Conducting seismic refraction surveys to determine the depth and geometry of aquifer zones.
3) Field Tests
- Conducting pumping tests using methods such as Theis and Cooper–Jacob.
- Measuring water quality parameters (pH, EC, TDS, major ions).
4) Numerical Modeling
- Using MODFLOW and FEFLOW to simulate groundwater flow.
- Analyzing the water balance (Recharge–Discharge Balance).
5) Groundwater Quality Assessment
- Applying WHO and EPA guidelines to evaluate suitability for domestic and agricultural use.
- Identifying zones impacted by salinity intrusion or industrial contamination.
3.2 Technical Deliverables
- Groundwater flow nets (Flow Nets).
- Recharge and protection zone maps (Recharge & Protection Zones).
- 3D numerical models of groundwater flow to estimate safe yield.
- Time-series analysis of groundwater level fluctuations.
- Groundwater quality reports and technical recommendations.
